Ensemble Transport Interface files benefit broadcasters and manufacturers of DAB, DAB+ and DMB radios
London, 29th April 2010
The WorldDMB Forum ? coordinator of the DAB family of standards, including DAB, DAB+ and DMB digital radio ? has expanded the world’s first online ETI (Ensemble Transport Interface) Library, http://www.worlddab.org/eti_library.
The library is a centralised database that provides country snapshots of DAB,DAB+ and DMB files, configured with multiplexing equipment from specific manufacturers.
Launched last September, the ETI Library has already proved to be a useful tool for broadcasters and manufacturers. Now, new software will allow WorldDMB members, which include most leading manufacturers and broadcasters around the world, to convert their files into the correct format and build on the existing database.
The new ETI File Converter Software is made available free of charge to WorldDMB Forum members by VDL, a French leader in the field of digital radio broadcasting technology. The VDL ETI File Converter software produces a standard file format from most types of ETI files.
The Library is especially important for manufacturers looking at international markets, and is of particular benefit to the car market where receivers must be harmonised for cross-border use At the same time, it allows manufacturers to ensure their products are compatible on a pan-European and worldwide basis.
As broadcasters create ever more complex digital radio services, the ETI Library will reflect these and maintain a single point of reference for manufacturers and broadcasters worldwide.
