The special commission set up by the government of Costa Rica to choose the most appropriate digital television system for the country has proposed the Japanese-Brazilian ISDB-T model to replace the current analogue system.
The commission was chaired by Hannia Vega, Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and included representatives from the Costa Rican Chamber of Information Technology (Camara Costarricense de Tecnologia de la Informacion CAMTIC), public and private universities, and the Superintendency of Telecommunications (Superintendencia de telecomunicaciones SUTEL).
